Very often, on the pages of the Internet, a culinary magazine, or a culinary newspaper, you can see the classic recipe: the Potato cake. Chocolate cake is well known to me from childhood. It is loved not only by children, but also by adults. Such sweets can be bought in the confectionery departments, but chocolate cake made at home is much tastier. Yes, and we can say that this is an instant cake. Delicate, aromatic, sweet vanilla "potato" just melts in your mouth.

I propose to cook a cake "Potato" from biscuit along with "Very tasty." Let's see what we need for this.


  • vanilla;
  • sponge cake - 150 grams;
  • icing sugar - 30 grams;
  • cocoa - 1-3 tablespoons;
  • milk - 70 grams;
  • butter - 50 grams;
  • nuts - 30 grams.

Cake "Potato". Step by step recipe

  1. To prepare a potato cake, you can use a biscuit (or sponge cake), cookies or homemade crackers. Today we will prepare sweet potatoes from biscuit (I used chocolate biscuit).
  2. Dry the biscuit and grind it in a blender to a fine crumb (instead of a blender, you can use a coffee grinder or even a mortar to simply grind a dry biscuit).
  3. Pour the crushed biscuit into a bowl, add cocoa, 30 grams of powdered sugar (and there is such a small nuance: if you make “potato” from biscuit, 30 grams of powdered powder will be enough, but if you cook from crackers, you need to take grams of powders 70), a slice of soft butter, crushed walnuts. Mix everything well.
  4. At room temperature, pour a thin stream into a biscuit, add vanilla and knead well. The cake mix should keep its shape.
  5. Roll up cakes in the form of potatoes (or koloboks - choose the size at your discretion, I roll small balls, then they hold their shape well and potatoes can be picked up well).
  6. You can leave the sweet dessert as it is, or you can roll it in crushed biscuit crumbs (or in vanilla sugar, or you can mix crumbs with cocoa or cocoa with sugar).
  7. Put the potatoes on a beautiful flat dish, sprinkled with powdered sugar (since the dessert is such that it does not completely cover the dishes on which it will be served, it is better to take a beautiful dish to aesthetically arrange the serving).
  8. Before serving, put the cake in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Tip: if your base for Potato cakes consists of cookies, then there is no need to buy beautiful and expensive cookies for this purpose. It’s best (and more economical) to use the simplest cookie. And if from crackers, it is best to take homemade crackers.

You can add raisins, dried apricots, candied fruits to the Potato cake.

The classic “Potato” cake recipe has been tested for years, centuries and guests. This dessert is very easy to prepare and divinely delicious.
