Sun-dried tomatoes with basil

Tomatoes are a very convenient product, they organically fit into almost any unsweetened dish - from salads and cold appetizers to sauces and soups, and baked or dried tomatoes with basil and spicy spices - a ready-made filling for a pie or topping for pizza. This is an original baked tomato snack on the agenda today. The main thing you should prepare for: sun-dried tomatoes with basil simmer in the oven for 10 hours with low heat. Thanks to this technology, tomato juices come out slowly, gradually mixing with the aromas of garlic and olive oil. Not the fastest dish, but believe me, incredibly tasty!

Ingredients:

  • fresh basil;
  • olive oil - 1/4 cup;
  • salt and pepper - to taste;
  • tomatoes - 12-14 pieces;
  • red pepper flakes;
  • garlic - 1 head.

Sun-dried tomatoes with basil. Step by step recipe

  1. Cut the tomatoes into quarters.
  2. Pour the baking sheet with olive oil and put the tomatoes on it.
  3. Pour the tomatoes with olive oil. Should leave about 2 tbsp. l
  4. Then sprinkle the tomatoes with salt, black pepper and (optionally) red pepper flakes. Divide the garlic into cloves and arrange them in random order between the slices of tomatoes.
  5. Place the pan in the oven preheated to 80 degrees and cook for 10 hours. You can sleep or go visit during this time: tomatoes will be waiting for you.
  6. After 10 hours, the tomatoes will look shriveled, but still appetizing, and your home will be filled with a magnificent aroma. At this stage, the peel is easily separated from the pulp of tomatoes, but I leave it as it is.
  7. Take a liter jar and pour a little olive oil into it so that it is at the very bottom. Add some baked tomatoes, then a couple of basil leaves and garlic, which was baked with tomatoes. Pour olive oil again and continue until the jar is full.
  8. When the jar is filled with tomatoes, basil and garlic, pour the oil that remains in the pan after baking the tomatoes into it. It is very fragrant and spicy!
  9. If there is little space left in the jar, fill it with olive oil. Cover the jar and keep the snack in the refrigerator.
