Ingredients:

  • potatoes (medium size) - 5 pieces;
  • carrots (medium size) - 1 piece;
  • pickled cucumbers (small sizes) - 5-6 pieces;
  • veal meat (ribs) - 0.5 kilograms;
  • salt;
  • rice - 100 grams;
  • bay leaf - 2 pieces;
  • sour cream - 200 grams;
  • fresh herbs to taste.

  1. The amount of ingredients for preparing a grandmother's pickle is designed for a 5 liter pan. But if this is a lot for you, then you can take only half the ingredients (or reduce proportionally, based on your family).
  1. Pour water into the prepared pan for the pickle, send the pan to the stove and bring the water to a boil.
  2. We thoroughly wash the veal ribs (it is very good to use fresh veal, not frozen, because during thawing the meat loses its taste. As for me, a dish made from fresh meat is much tastier.).
  3. When the water in the pan boils, transfer the ribs to boiling water and cook for 30-40 minutes.
  4. We clean one carrot, wash it and rub it on a coarse grater.
  5. Pour a little vegetable oil into the pan, transfer the grated carrots there and send the pan to the stove. Fry the carrots, stirring occasionally, until golden.
  6. Cut pickled cucumbers into small pieces (I had small cucumbers, so I used six pieces)
  7. Sliced ​​cucumbers are sent to the carrots in a pan, mix well and fry together for another 10 minutes.
  8. Then remove the pan from the heat and transfer the cucumbers with carrots to the plate.
  9. After 40 minutes, salt the meat broth, add rice to the pan, mix well, cover the pan with a lid and bring the contents of the pan to a boil.
  10. Peel the potatoes for a delicious grandmother's pickle, wash and cut into small pieces (I used medium-sized potatoes, and not large, so that the pickle was not very thick).
  11. When the rice disperses a little across the pan, add the potatoes, mix and cook until the potatoes are ready.
  12. Now we send the stewed carrots with cucumbers to the finished potato broth and mix. Boil the entire contents of the pan for another 5 minutes.
  13. After this time, add bay leaf, fresh chopped greens to the pickle according to the grandmother’s recipe (you can add the greens that you like to the pickle).
